We were offshore Costa Brava in the vicinity of Palamos and we found an alarming number of medusa larvae. If you couple that to the sighting of at least 10 Sunfish, ( their sole diet is .... Medusas) I suggest people should enter the water carefully after checking the surrounding area.

Might be a bad year for these things.

Is that what that was? Seen loads, and I mean loads of this stuff 4 days ago. We went from del este to fuengirola. There was also some orange substance on the surface a couple of times, like a slick. Infact, we have seen lots of jelly fish the past two weeks travelling from the menor back to gib.

The larvae look like half moons attached to a membrane which floats on the water.

The Molas are nice to watch too and can be approached closely if done surreptitiously....

They like to float on the surface to warm themselves up with the sunshine. Apparently, they dive to great depths and get cold. :D
