Jeanneau vs Hanse. Help please

We are considering buying a new shallow draught 40ft yacht so that we can wander through the french canals and then sail the med.
The short list has narrowed to a Hanse 400/385 or the Jeanneau 409. I know that both manufacturers previously suffered with some build problems. However can anyone comment on which model has the better build quality.

As I replied in your other post. Don't take peoples word on here, look at second hand jeanneau and hanse boats and decide for yourself. Personally I think you will find that hanses age badly, but that is my opinion.

Jeanneaus are often used by hire/charter companies and are certainly not bad boats but you need to decide and judge for yourself.
