I have a SO 26 with twin rudders but the tiller is very stiff, almost to the point where she can't be sailed. There seems nowhere for lubrication or easing of the tiller mounting......all ideas welcomed.

We started to have the very same problem this weekend with our SF 26. After reading the manual we removed the access covers in the aft cabin to get to the rudder mechanism and sprayed WD40 onto the nylon bushes of each one. This did seem to ease the problem. Have not got the Manual at home so can't tell you what page sorry.

Be careful with spraying WD40 on Nylon bushes because Nylon swells when in contact with oils or water.Bushes should be made of Acetal which doesnt swell.

Don't know if you resolved this but i had the same with my SF 26, seems the nylon bearing had swollen, possibly previous owner had used incorrect lubricant. After unsuccessful machining i bought a new bearing, now feels quite nice, perhaps a little more slop than preferable but at least you don't need to steep using the aid of a size 10!
