We, here in Ålesund, Norway, have been having problems with seawater intakes in Jeanneau's, 4 today (42DS, two 40's and a 32.2) All with a similar fault. The engine seawater intake, the fitting above the seacock, the hose connector has broken off. For some reason the 'thought-the-hull' fitting is in bass, the 'seacock' is in stainless steel, with the 'hose connector' back again in bass. 42DS had to have ALL intakes changed. All other Jeanneau's in our club marina are being look at.
As anyone else had this problem?
Note. The problem is being investigated and a joint claim is being look into. All yachts where bought within the last 18 months.

Depending on Jeanneau's response, suggest you get the affected parts off to a metalergist for examination. Depending on the specifics of the brass and SS and the relative areas of both subject to the water, it might well be agalvanic corrosion problem.

Also worth have the boats overall circuit checked and that of the marina where they are kept.

Yes..Its all part of the investigation. But at the moment it seem that only Jeanneau's are effected. Its all only been found in the past couple of week or so.
My boats swedish so I'm keeping my fingers cross. The 32.2 is in the next berth to me...

Jeanneau seawater intake

I replaced my 7 year old skin fitting last March. When the boat was two years old, we lost the prop anode which was the only one fitted. We had to have a new prop as well. We fitted full bonding with hull and propshaft anodes. When the boat was 5 years old a surveyor told us to disconnect the engine water intake from the bonding. I noticed corrosion at the end of 2008 so put the new seacock on the list of jobs to do . As an attempt was made to unscrew the seacock, it broke off. We replaced the whole skin fitting inlet and valve and re-connected the bonding cable. I believe Jeanneaus need proper anodes and a full bonding system.
