Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has owned or used a Jeanneau Prestige 36 Flybridge. I am pretty aware of the possitive points but would like to hear what it is like for living on and using on a regular basis. What niggles annoy them, which design features do not work etc.

All comments welcome!

Cheers

Paul

PS Downloaded the MBM Test and paid my £4.95 to IPC!

Loads of positives, Ours was new February 2004, engines are Volvo D6's 310hp.
No issues with the boat on delivery or since. Some initial problems with engines, ours was first UK boat installed with The then new D6's and they were subject to several recalls.
Highest recorded speed was 32knts, we cruise comfortably at 26knts. Jeanneau do not fit trim tabs as standard on the 36, we had them retro fitted after 2 seasons and they have made a vast difference to the rough weather handling, we always felt secure in big seas, but in very rough head seas experienced some slamming, triming the bows down has all but eliminated this. Could'nt fit the Volvo tabs as the transom is not flat, there is actually a recess moulded in to take conventional tabs.
Electrical and plumbing insatallations are off a very high order, hull is very creak and rattle free and other boat owners who have been out with us have commented on how quiet the boat is. Jeanneau use a double floor with extensive sound proofing which really works well. this can also be a bit of a pain to get at the engines but well worth the trade off in refinement.
Only other critism is the cockpit and flybridge covers are a bit of a faff to fit and remove.
After 5 years the hull and superstructure clean up like new and there is no eveidence of any stress cracking. Likewise the interior, the high gloss finish is still mark free and looks like new.
If you want any more specific information, PM me and I will be only to pleased to respond.

p36

Had my p36 for a number of years now and overall very pleased with boat, Great value for money and in my case fitted with volvo 370 hps makes it an exceptionally good seaboat due in some respect to the extra weight low down. As previous member noted, many good build points but if you want to be a bit critical there are a couple of minor issues. First in the second cabin. IF its used quite a bit with one porthole as the only ventilation it can be rather dark and some guests have preferred to leave the door open to get more ventilation. The other is the galley area can be a bit restricting due to lack of workspace. As I said nothing major really.

I had no idea that you could retro fit trim tabs, and reading other comment I think this would be a good move as we do get a lot of slamming when pushing in to head seas, but we do tend to go whatever the conditions and just keep our speed suited to the swell.

Thanks again

The one I am looking at has twin KAMD 300 and is well speced and even has QL Trim Tabs. I agree the second cabin seems to lack natural light and around the galley it seems a bit tight. This one is a 2003 and has about 1200 hrs but is in a very clean/well looked after state. Even has new Raymarine E80 plotter and Radar.

The package seems to work well with a decent sunbathing area on the bow, further areas on the Fb and decent seating around the stern and cockpit.

Thanks again and if anyone else has any comments please put them down

Cheers

thought you were strictly sports cruiser Paul? didnt realise you would consider a fly, I have connections with Jeanneau too will check em out

p36

Yes flybridge works very well. as does sunbathing area on deck. Its a great powerboat and we love ours. Been looking for replacement but only because we want a change and I have to say when we measure potentials against the p36 we end up staying as we are. Hey I would have grabed the Fairline!!!

Small Rolly FB's!

Yep Clive,

The F33 and F34 are too small. Need a wide hull to minimise roll, want shaft drive, and plenty of space! Was not looking for FB but one kind of came along. Still exploring options

I spent 5 days in Gib Feb before last, and guess who got the starboard cabin! I found it was OK.

We went out every day and over to Ceuta on one occasion, the boat handled very well. The bowthruster was faulty but even in a tight berth in Gib, it manouvered well in close quarters.

Removing the double floor was a real pain though, when undertaking daily checks.

If my memory serves me well, we cruised at around 24 knots.

A good boat IMHO.
