Jeanneau Attalia swing keel

Hello everyone. We are considering buying a nice-looking example of a Jeanneau Attalia swing keel. There's not that much information about them on the web, so if anyone has any experience of the type, could you share it? Things to check over, watch out for etc. In principle we're very keen. Many thanks.

There doesn't seem to be much online info on the Attalia's keel. Have you looked at this on the Jeanneau Owners website?

A chap on our moorings has one. The lifting plate dropped out whilst on the mooring & he does not have a pattern for a new plate. Or the will power. So he sails it about without it in. A dog to windward but he does not care.

Hmmm... not a compelling endorsement. I reckon all of these swing-keel boats need lots of careful maintenance. The Attalia was available with a fixed keel, I think, and that would be a better choice if it has to be an Attalia.

how deep is the mooring?? Maybe when he comes to sell the boat he'll include the coordinates for that part of it and the new owner can snorkel for it.

Thanks for the welcome. I read the forums a lot. But haven't had reason to post till now! I have put a similar request on the Jeanneau Owners forum and also looked at the post you highlight. V useful. Thanks.

I should have said we're in the Netherlands and quite keen on the lifting keel idea because of the shallower areas it would allow us to access. The boat we're looking at has obviously been very well looked after. But it's certainly seems worth giving the keel extra scrutiny.

also when i got the boat 4 years ago i had the original yard in burnham remove the lifting keel, check the mechanism, pivot pin and shotblast and epoxy seal the keel

Im unable to get at the lift keel at my club however but am thinking of going to another local club this year or next to get the boat high enough to check it all again.

well, its nice to have the flexibility of haveing the option to go in shallower areas and my boats normally on a swing mooring and i leave the keel down for that. Boat seems as stable with the keel up due to the long stub keel
