What would the forumites recommend to help loosening up some screws on a Lewmar maintrack car? they are the usual "hex" allen-key type thingies. I want to preserve the kit and not destroy the screws or their heads.

Any experience to relate?

Cheers

Or if you don't have an impact driver you can simulate a basic one - put the allen key in, apply anticlockwise turning motion and tap down with a hammer (not in the anticlockwise motion - but as though you were trying to push the allen key further in) ...

I assume you've applied copious amounts of WD40 first ....

no backing nuts: stuff firmly screwed in the housing

Try very hot water 2 reasons
Thermal shock between 2 metals track ally cap head screws stainless,
and dissolving salts from reaction between 2 metals.
be carefull when undoing stainless as it deforms or breaks very easily
