Hi all,

This may be an obvious easy answer to this little issue but I'm a little new to these pumps.

I've a Jabsco Fresh water pump and accumulator combination which I have just noticed appear to both be mounted upside down, with the accumulator body with the air valve (I think that's what it is at the top of the pump) pointing towards the floor rather than upwards as per all the pics I've seen. I take it the accumulator won't be accumulating working in that position?

Do I need to look at mounting them the right way up?

As ever,help is always appreciated.

Nick

The Schrader valve is just for increasing the internal pressure in the vessel, so provided you can get a pump ( bike) on it, it doesn't matter about the orientation. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. May offend the eye but........,...

Thanks Plumbob. Well it has started misbehaving. When I take the boat for a spin, when I get back the pump every 20 or 30 seconds activates for a few seconds. This goes on for half an hour or so. And now when a tap is turned on, the pump surges. On......off....On.....Off.. It's a brand new pump just before I bought the boat..
As I say I'm only just learning this stuff. Electrics I'm ok with (Former electrical apprentice) but water is a bit of a mystery..

Try repressurising the expansion vessel. About 2 bar should be plenty. If the pressure stays up and the pulsing stops, sorted. If not, replace it, unless you have a leak which would cause pulsing all the time, not just after a trip.
