Jabsco water pump purges (on and off)

Normal. At low flow, the water pressure is being partially maintained by the accumulator tank until it falls to the point where the pump kicks back in. At high flow, the pressure falls are so quick that the pump runs continuously.

Sounds like either you have no accumulator or it needs a little bit of pumping up or its diaphram is knackered giving the same effect as no accumulator. Like the man says, if you have no accumulator anyway intermittent activity from the pump when the tap is only partially open would be the norm. An accumulator gives a steady flow as its pressure dissipates before the pump then kicks in full chat to re-charge it.

I think I have given the wrong end of the stick. The pump purges but the water doesn’t flow steady, it stops and starts.
I cant say that I have seen an accumulator any where on the boat and as the pump switches on immediately I turn the tap on, I assume I probably haven’t got one.
I don’t know where you guys get all the info, but its brilliant and so is this web site, many thanks
