Is it true that Jabsco use neoprene and Volvo use nitrile in the manufacture of their impellers, and which is best ?
There is about £10 difference between them.Volvo of course is the dearer.

Jabsco produce both:

As to which is "best"?
Nitrile is more resistant to oil, and will withstand a minor overheat better, but it's harder and will crack eventually. Neoprene is softer and might last a bit longer.

I'm not sure which type Volvo use, I thought Nitrile, but the equivalent Volvo part numbers in that doc point to Neoprene.

I used to use volvo brand in my TAMD61A's but tried jabsco recently.

Not sure of the materials, but the jabsco had two more vanes. The vanes were thinner so overall dimensions were the same.

I found the thicker volvo vanes started to crack at the vane roots after two years (c200 hrs) but the thinner jabsco vanes only started to crack after three years. Ergo, jabsco is better value IMHO :)

I'm pretty sure Volvo just fitted a Jabsco pump, so any compatible impeller would do. And you of course always carry a spare :encouragement:

A puller?

Might be hard to get a grip behind the impeller. See this for inspiration and hints
