I have a 4 year old Jabsco toilet done in a very professional installation complete with vented loops in the pipes above the water line. It has started to have water fill up into the pan when it is left for a while, sometimes accompanied by gurgling noises. I have stripped down the pump at the top end, greased it up etc and also cleaned all the scale off the joker valve at the outlet. Nothing appears to be wrong with the pump which works OK. However the pan still fills up when left. It even does it when both inlet and outlet seacocks are shut. Any ideas?

If it is filling up to overflowing, then you have two problems:

1 - your inlet valve is not closing properly
2 - the syphon brack is not working (clogged up?)

If you are only getting a little bit of water back into the bowl, then this is to be expected as the water empties from the downhill section of the inlet pipe.

But strange that it has only started recently... if it were water from the pipe, you would expect it to have been happening "forever".

I have a similar situation on my, (bloody noisy), jabsco electric conversion. It doesnt fill the bowl when we are heeled to the point where it is below the waterline, so it seem to be water frombetween siphon and bowl.... However, I am still somewhat concerned that it gets past a newish joker valve.

when I say "bloody noisy"..... it's muvh noisier than that!

Methinks your problem is the "non return outlet gasket " fittedb at the base between the base and the outlet. Its a sort of four finned thingy and operates by passing water out of the slots in the fins and the waterpressure clamping the fins shut. Classic problem is caused by some people not pumping enough to clear the pipe and slodi materila is left in the sealing fins when pumping stops.

Its an easy repair and its a standard jabsco part. Don't try and clean up the old one.

Wear thick gloves sealed at the wrists, and the wellies.

Would suggest the anti syphon fitting in the top of the loop is clogged up. Take it off and give it a good soak in hot soapy water, if possible strip it down and clean the internal parts.

Paul.
