My Jabsco compact toilet has developed a leak that appears to be coming from from under the base. I've checked all hose connections and componemt fastening areas for gasket leaks, and there are none. I've also checked the screw-in plug in the base, so it seems to be the base that is leaking, although there is no visible sign of a crack or split.

Has anyone heard of the base cracking or splitting?

Thanks for the quick reply. The pump assembly was replaced a couple of seasons ago, and the bowl is attached to the base with through bolts and nuts on the top. If the plastic base is cracked, I would re-attach the existing ceramic bowl and pump.

I was wondering if anyone had a base crack/split and leak.

I have exactly the same problem, also replacing the pump assembly which did not resolve. the base is cracked around the retaining through bolts and that appears to be where it weeps.

We had a crack in ours which i have fixed by grinding a small amount of material and filling with the ABS glue we use to join plumbing fittings with then sanding smooth. Touch wood, so far the repair has worked.

Thanks for all the replies. It seems the base does crack/split, and in my case the split must be hidden under the base, as there's none visible on the outside.

So it's off to Jabsco spares for a new base and gasket set, and a heavy-duty pair of marigolds.

Replacing the pump assembly can't actually resolve the problem with base crack. What you have to do is to put plumbers putty around that splited base and let it dry to prevent the leak.
