I think the Jabsco cooling water pump needs servicing or new bearings or something, not perfect last year and I think we're still down on water flow. I heard Jabsco are based in Suffolk? Who would you take it to? We're out for three weeks in June so it needs to be someone we can rely on. Advice very welcome!

if you have the pump number asap supplies will have the parts

Also haul out @ Fox`s is cheap on their summer deal also if one is a berth holder one gets a deal too

Already booked old chap, very good deal indeed. Any other specific engineer suggestions if Peter can't help in the time frame?

Even if you need a new shaft, worry not. The UK agents are based in Dunstable and do an order service. The shaft will cost about £30. The bearings are about £8 each and a bit less for the wto seals. You will need a pair of circlip plyers.

I have done both of mine. (twin engine cat).,They took about a couple of hours each.

Can you do mine? Costs, case of beer and I'll spend the two hours polishing your hull, like an old fashioned barter system. Plus I'm good with electronics.

When we did The Kipper two years ago the works manager saw the result but not the effort - he came over to have a quiet word - just to let you know Simon we do hull polishing here and you're supposed to ask us before getting other companies in to do work on your boat - I still don't think he believed we'd done it :D

So now have a go at that pump, its the only way to become a Practical Boat Owner

No way, I can't do mechanical things, I'd make it worse. I polish, paint and do electrics. Otherwise I'm great at RIY (ruin it yourself).

Really? Were you not the one asking about trans-Atlantic trips, liveaboard for a couple of years. ;) Probably best you learn at least a bit of mechanic-ing before you go surely. Anyone with half a brain would probably you'd find it very easy anyway - I'm sure you'd find it a doddle.

Yes, and I'm afraid I don't have half a mechanical brain; plus ham fisted. I just don't get mechanicals; that's cool because I have other qualities and I'm very good looking.

I do get mechanicals - but on the other hand things like woodwork are beyond me. 'Measure twice cut once' my father in law who was a cabinet maker told me. So I measure twice, cut once and swear lots. And even though i get mechanicals, jobs that I know are easy are made almost impossible by the fact that my engine was installed the same way they get a ship in a bottle.

And yes - I am good looking too.
