The usual saltwater impellor pump cooling engine.Has an arrow on it, but I have no choice and need it to go the other way. Will it pump,? doesn't appear to. Do i need to reverse the slipper inside it? any thoughts anyone?

The Jabsco-type pump is non-directional and will pump equally well in either direction. There's no point reversing the cam plate as it's symmetrical.

And it also counter intuitive. i.e. If looking at the plate and it is turning clockwise, then the water is pumping right to left.

That depends on whether you are looking at it with the cam plate at 12 o'clock or 6 o'clock.
You are right if it's at 12 o'clock ........ I think.

Yes that's right....or left...the water takes the long way round.

That's it so if the OP runs his pump in the opposite direction he should end up with the inlet being the outlet and the outlet being the inlet.

BUT

We are overlooking the fact that the OP is in NZ.

Sundials run in the opposite direction in the southern hemisphere ... perhaps pumps do too.

that's the Coriolanus effect you're thinking of

No -that make the bath water go down the other way
No that's the clitoris effect. The Coriolanus effect is named after the Roman leader who first noticed that his sundials were running backwards when the Romans conquered New Zealand in 5 BC.
Its mentioned in Shakespeare's "Coriolanus"
