I want to replace our old (circa 12 years) Jabsco manual toilet with a new twist and lock jobbie (forgive pun).

Can anyone tell me if the base template will be the same as the old one - are the screw holes identical?

If they are not, I might just replace the pump and SWMBO can whistle for her new bowl.

TIA

Direct replacement, either the pump or the whole unit. Make sure you can access the fastenings to your floor easily.

The whole new set is about £100, which does save some possibly nasty messing about...

Doesn't save that much, as you still need to break into the pipe. Having replaced a pump a couple of weeks ago the nastier part was the top of the pipe, which you need to work with either way, not the base of the pump which you avoid by replacing the whole thing. None of it was all that bad though.

Still an argument for replacing the whole thing as you get a nice new bowl, seat, etc - but the yuck factor of changing parts isn't really a consideration.

It is only necessary to replace the top unit of the pump, leaving the barrel and the rest in place. I bought this lot at our chandlers last year and also installed a syphon break. It's not a particularly dirty job since sea-water has cleansing properties. Anyway, it's the skipper's responsibility to do the dirty tasks.

I am going to replace the lot, in spite my reluctance to subscribe to the 'throwaway' mentality.

I never use the thing but SWMBO does and, in recognition of her magic on a two burner cooker, I think she deserves a fresh environment for her backside.
