I seem to be charging the flappy bit at the top and the joker valve every 5 to 6 months these days, way back when I seem to remember them holding out for longer than this.....Are you finding the same?

I find I'm having to change the (made in China) pump spindle seals annually. Don't think the "twist and lock" are as well made as the older versions.

Yes, I seem to use a few joker valves. The rubber lips seem to open after a while, letting 'product' back into the bowl.

Are the spindle seals available separately, or only as part of a fuller seals kit?

Thanks - I had looked there (honest) but not far enough, obviously! I replaced the whole pump assembly with a new twist 'n lock, partly because of shaft weeping - but that may have been because I 'nicked' the old shaft very slightly despite care when getting the handle off. So far it seems OK.

Switched over from manual to electric three years ago,
two of us living aboard for well over two years and apart from chucking down a bottle of vinegar every other week it's still working fine and is actually quieter than the manual one was.

I was concentrating on the joker valve to stop product back feeding then realised the twist to lock thingy was pushing the flat valve too much over time and distorting it. I now strip and clean the joker valve and change the flat thing on average every two seasons.

No I'm not, I don't even use sea water to flush, our shower head is close so use that, it cuts out the odour.

I've had one for the past five years. Mostly very reliable but we do use a few joker valves, I assume mostly because the flush volume is quite low and carbonate deposits accumulate quite quickly.
