Hi all
Just fitted a new complete unit however couldn't see any "in " "out " marking on the unit . After plumbing it in and turning the tap on the water ran black for a while before clearing . Have I plumbed it in back to front so to speak or is it usual to produce a bit of blackness on initial flush ? Don't remember any discolouration when replacing filters in the old unit .

I don't believe there's any direction on them. Mine certainly doesn't have any arrows and I just plumbed it in the easiest way. I always get the black crud when I fit a new filter. That's just loose carbon being washed out. Run it 'til it's clear, then enjoy.

My Seagull IV filters run black for a short time, presumably the very small charcoal particles wash through. The instructions warn that this is likely.

Thanks for your quick replies chaps . Seems as if the installation is ok . That's one off the winter list!

The instructions do clearly say when a new filter is installed it will run black for a short time as loose carbon particles are flushed through.
