The Jabasco heads on my Offshore 8m need to be serviced - I've done it before, using a service kit that had been left on the boat when I bought it, but stupidly I did not take note of the part numbers. The boat was built in 1970, and I'm not sure if the heads are original, but they are certainly more than 13 years old. The bowl is china if that helps date them. Grateful for any advice in determining which Jabasco kit I should use.

Thanks

Neil

Hi Neil
you need to know the age of your Jabsco unit more so than the age of your boat - the service kit from memory differs pre 1997 and post 1997. This can be determined by comparing the pump handle - earlier models have a plain black handle.

Thanks Sawdoc - heads are almost certainly pre 1997, and do have a plain black handle, so I'll go with that. You don't happen to know which part number that corresponds to do you?

Go to the JabscoShop Spare Parts Wizard, that will show you the different models and spares.

It all depends on the model and year made. Its all there to see.

Beware , it may be a 59128-0000. Spares are no longer available! I've got one of these. Properly built before the days of value analysis and self tapping screws into plastic! Was advised to keep it going as long as possible.
However, all is not lost. The spares kit for the R & M Dutch toilet fits most service items, except the shaft seal and the piston rings. The shaft seal is a standard size, just make sure you buy one with a stainless spring, and the piston rings can be obtained from a plumbing store.
Good Luck if it's one of these. They used to be called Par Brydon Mk 1 or 2.

If it is Brydon Boy Toilet (59127-0000), then the pump cylinder will be vertical and secured at it's base by three screws, if it is an early PAR toilet then it will have an inclined pump cylinder secured with four screws... (IIRC, the Brydon Boy toilet ceased production early 1980's, and if you want to go back even further, before the Brydon Boy was the Bahia Mar Toilet, for which no spares are available!)

The service kit for the Brydon Boy toilet was 59128-1000 (Not sure if they are still available), the service kit for the early PAR was 29045-0000. The later toilets used 29045-1000 & 29045-2000..

The other good clue is RED labels then 29045-0000, Blue labels then either 29045-1000 or 29045-2000.... Otherwise it may be Brydon Boy...

If you have a Brydon Boy Toilet then spares can still be found by rummaging around chandleries and boat jumbles.

Hope this helps...

I really am going from memory, I left Jabsco over ten years ago! (Used to be internal sales and customer support)
