I am trying to remove a wheel from my traveller, see picture. So how do i remove the clip, arrowed in pic, please? And if i lose it or break it what is that sort of clip called and are they obtainable? Perhaps imperial? The wheel is jammed. I have tried soaking in hot water, doesn't work.

All input, as always, very much appreciated.

Ian

It's a C- clip. It was pushed on from the left as you show it, and can be pushed off from the right. You can sometimes do this with a pair of needle-nosed pliers held at just the right opening, but buying or improvising a tool may be worthwhile.

Thanks didn't know you get a tool.

It looks like a circlip where the lugs have broken off

This is what a C clip normally looks like

Thanks, i appreciate the effort with the pics, but no nothing broken, all 4 are exactly the same. Now sure it is C clip. Not easy, i reckon. I can't, as yet, find a tool.

Can you get the point of a knife under the lug? Bet it won’t take much effort to ping it off (to forever be lost!) if you can get something under it!

FWIW I've had the most success (and the fewest losses) PULLING on these with bent needlenose pliers, with a hand around the back of the jaws - the clip pings into your hand instead of the deep blue sea.

Its a C or E clip depending where you are in the world, as RogerTheBodger mentions above the fly off when being removed if you aren't careful

The standard C/E clip tools don't work very well on the IYE travellers as the clips are too thin for them, and they are imperial sized - 3/8" so new metric ones wont fit, also don't lose the washer as they are a thin non-standard size as well
