Ok.. now im officially p**sed!
An excellent 3 weeks sailing around west coast of Scotland in July is now definately far in the past.
Since then:
My lovely boat nudged a Loch gate going through the Crinan Canal ( I was looking on from above as I opened the sluice)...this little shunt manage to crack the furling drum and detach the forestay...dont ask!
Its taken over a month to get a new improved furling unit...during which time Ive been so busy at work I would not have had the energy to sail on my days off and in any case the weather on the west coast has been cr*p! ...so in some ways good timing.
At last the new unit fitted yesterday and I have a few days off...so kept the boat in the marina overnight ready for a couple of jobs this morn then trial the furler.
No such look - strong winds overnight pinning my boat on the visitors berth and washing some horrible brown foammy effluent over my boat..when I pitched up I found the boat looking like this!
All day spent pressure washing and scrubbing to get the stuff off!
I dread to think what substances I was exposing myself to!
Remind me again where is the fun in all this!

Someone been sick all over it???
On looking at pic again, was she alongside at Ardrishaig? it could be some effluent from the piles of logs waiting to be loaded on to the boat for troon.

The boat ws in Rhu Marina.
Not sure what the cause possibly:
- open sewage pipe in the bay (no smell to indicate so)
- Something nasty from HMS Faslane ...I believe there was a diesel spillage recently.

ah well.... shes all clean and well now.

Nasty Stuff, very fishy.

yuk

we saw foam build up in boulogne, but didn't suffer the wind and subsequent funnelling you obviously did. Many of you may of seen this ther but it covered an extensive area, if it had all ended up on my boat it may too have been grim.

Fun. Hmmm that one hour per year where the sun is shining, the breeze is F3-4 on the beam, everything on the boat works, nobody is complaining, the weather focast was actually correct and you are actually following your intended pilotage plan.

Its a very expensive 1 hour and takes a lot or preperation and frustration!

Is it worth it? Depends if I have just opened my bank statement or not!

Just remember, it can ALWAYS be worse!

We get similar stuff washed up on our beach during a big storms, once saw a visitor down here with his Lamborgini covered in it after he left it parked in the beach car park....could almost see it disolving before your eye.
