I\'ve Been Speeding Again

Took the ferry to Lakeside. This shot in Bowness Bay (6 mph limit)

Still, on the 10 mph bit they were very correct and did 9.6 mph.

Or of course mine. I was, after all, a Scout.

For 2 months.

Until I found out they went on Church Parade.

Still. I have been proved to be beyond reproach in the honesty stakes.

Re: I\'ve Been Speeding Again

Thanks. My scepticism was not aimed at your honesty, but at your eyesight. I now see that it is mine which is at fault.

Re: I\'ve Been Speeding Again

I expected the limits to be expressed in kts.
What's the point in using mph on the water?

It's not proper water - it's got no salt in it /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: I\'ve Been Speeding Again

It's understandable - the Lake runs downhill at that point and you can get caught out if your not paying attention.

Re: I\'ve Been Speeding Again

The limits are set by the Lake District National Park Authority, not usually known as a knowledgeable maritime body.
In fact they cocked up the new speed limit by making it in knots but then expressing it as 10mph and then getting the calculation into Km/hr wrong.

Re: I\'ve Been Speeding Again

ROTFL!
Even worse down here in Italy, on the lakes usually all comes down to the officers interpretation, which is normally based on the size/shape of the boat wake...

Re: I\'ve Been Speeding Again

Thinks slow down in the Lake District in October so in terms of relativity you probably were only doing 6 mph..it just seemed faster to the GPS.

(Well I'm convinced officer!)

/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Surely a decent (is there such a thing?) lawyer could make mincemeat out any prosecutor trying to implement that sort of nonsense?
