It\'s working!

Through the database I've today met with someone willing to take me out on his boat. He lives 10 minutes drive from my mooring, his boat is moored just upriver from me. Without the database we probably wouldn't have crossed paths.

The thing is, it's one of these "Sailing" boats with "Sails"! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
He's even offered to come on my boat!

Mobo and raggie together already. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well done Nigel.

Re: It\'s working!

Working for me too! Wonderful. Got a volunteer for Windermere already. Lakesailor better get the camera out - two forumites in the same boat cruising past his gaff on Monday (if he gets a decent photo I'll buy him a pint).

Thanks Nigel.

Steve

I\'m really pleased ...

What is really satisfying is the crossing of borders between boat types ....

We are all out there to enjoy it - so why does it matter what boat it is ?

Great ... and thanks to Keith for going along with my idea ...

Re: I\'m really pleased ...

Been out for the day and actually enjoyed it!
Fogbound start to the day, then followed downriver by a seal, anchored waiting for fog to clear, dodging big ship, finally doing some sailing when the fog cleared and the wind arrived. Felt great satisfaction after managing to do half a mile in about an hour. "Beating" Andy said it was called, I felt like I'd took one! Does the wind ever blow the right direction?
Left home at 4.20am, arrived back at 9pm, sat in front of TV and watched the walls slowly moving up and down!!! Had to have a travel sickness tablet to watch the telly.....
Great day out, Andy was brave enough to let me loose with the tiller and go below. Should have been out this week and spending the night at anchor before more sailing.
Bloody wind, either not enough or too much!

Worryingly, I've started to look at motorsailors....... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Re: I\'m really pleased ...

out of curiosity Ken , did you start to feel sea sick at sea , or after you landed , the reason I ask is that I get land sickness , as in , when I get off after any remotely turbulent trip , I feel like I'm still on board and suffering from sea sickness

Re: I\'m really pleased ...

Felt a touch of "here we go" while sitting below at anchor but it soon went, nothing serious in 12 hours on the boat. Unloaded the boat quickly and drove home very quickly, didn't notice anything until I sat down at home.

As a kid I suffered travel sickness, but with 5 of us in the back of a hillman imp van (me between the back seat and the rear door!), maybe that's not surprising.

Step off boat ...

I think it's common for most people to feel strange after a few hours of boat movement.

Often feel ok on the boat - step ashore and its as if the world has movement as well.

I know I helped GC1 as crew but I don't want to take it that far.
