It\'s that time of year when........

Its getting to that time of year when the boat gets lifted (or not in my case) and planning begins on how to get through the Christmas period unscathed begins.

I posted part of this in a reply on Christmas presents and had a couple of emails to say why mot start a Sailing Christmas present thread on here.

What was your best sailing Christmas present of last year, to give us ideas for this year?

I had a couple of corkers last year, a little Garmin GPS 60 which has served really well and the usb link to my PC really worked a treat, although the battery won’t last a whole weekend which is a bit of a bind.

The star pressy was a little radio Micro Magic which turned out to be terrific fun.

When we were in Holland this year, I wast sailing it round the marina and half a dozen others suddenly popped out of nowhere and we had a mini regatta.
Since then back in the UK we have had great fun sailing this little boat round most of the marinas on the south coast.
It stows away easily in the forepeak fully rigged and takes no time at all to get it ready to sail.
Our biggest problem is that the kids don't want to go anywhere now as they just want to sail the Micro Magic and it looks like I'll have to buy another one to stop them fighting over it

Can't remember last Xmas (selectively) but for birthday ending in a 0:
Garmin72 - excellent
Gimballed Oil lamp - very cosy and looks great
'Atlantic at Last' by Helen Tew (in a 26' wooden boat at age 89) - good read

Weems & Plath electronic barometer/barograph. It is still in wraps and SWMBO won't let me near it. But I know where it is....

My best present was when SWMBO said

"Why don't you get your self a yacht"

I did not take much encouragement after that.

Call me an old cynic if you like but my suspicions are raised when a new user arrives and his first two posts are advertising.

Hello Mr Cynic,

I've been here months but never posted.
Somehow I wish I hadn't now /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I should add that I have not mentioned a commercial organisation other than Garmin, the other site appears to be
a class association not a commercial organisation.

Well I thought I'd get a few more Chrissy ideas that that /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Perhaps I'll just avoid Christmas alltogether
