I was going to go to my boat today at Arisaig but left it because of the forcast.
Just looked out of window at 9.15 am as I came on here and hill in front of me has turned white and snow is falling in my garden!

Is you boat ashore or on a mooring. I did not realise that Arisaig was sheltered in these conditions.

Snow on the hills around me this morning, and snow in the garden but that didn't settle.

Bright sunshine in between the showers but cold.

This time last year, and the year before we had deep laying snow.

I'm off to chop more firewood.

Ah the fun of chopping firewood-but as I sit in front of my big Hunter stove keeping warm for free its worth it!

Boats ashore but remember Arisaig Bay is protected by a wall of shoaling rock several miles deep-True its totally open to the wind but protected from excesive waves.
Never forget arriving there for first time Oct.2009-a storm had just blown out in Atlantic and there was a horrendous swell coming from two directions.
Just remember surfing in hoping I was in the right place until I finally saw the entrance and committed myself.
I had already bashed my head on the deck head when I met with two waves breaking against each other and my boat which can be very cork like so anything was better.

The low pressure has passed now, but we had 70+mph gusts and wet snow here in Shetland today, much worse further north in Faeroe though, they had gusts to 126mph. Roofs off houses, boats blown ashore, old people's home evacuated as it was badly damaged, and it's still November. This is early in the winter for such a blow, it's more usual in January.

Warms you twice, once when you chop it once when you burn it, I have two, a Dovre and a Vermont castings. I would buy a Vermont again without hesitation but never a Dovre after the customer support from their importers and agents!
