We have just had some very good friends (6) around for drinks and nibbles, the criac was good and the company better.
On a Saturday evening, if your not sailing, can anything be better than spending it with good friends over a few drinks and nibbles?

Knock it off will you. Just got back to an empty boat after a 13 hour day stuck in traffic. SWMBO is away so peeled the spuds to go on the shepherds pie she kindly made before she jumped ship. Poured my first, contemplating my 2nd. Have to be up at 4.45am so no 3rd but at least I get to make 'em as big as I want!

To quote a band that you may not / probably not / in fact unlikely that anyone on this forum has heard of.....

Half Man Half Biscuit, doyens of late 80's musical sarcasm:

"There is nothing better in life than writing on the sole of your slipper with a biro on a Saturday night instead of going to the pub."

They were an indie band, bit of a cult following, but very funny.

My favourite song of theirs was "I Hate Nerys Hughes".

They just trashed their way through 60's, 70's and 80's TV and football culture.

Another good lyric was

"No draughts 'cos that'd be daft, a feather acknowledges Newton, and a ball and chain that hits on the pane can only smash yer nerves" - that was in a song about the adverts for double glazing that Ted Moult used to promote.

As he used to say:
You only fit double glazing once so fit the best - fit Ev***st!

OK, sorry! There are yotties who know about Half Man Half Biscuit.

Anyway, gotta dash. Apparently there's a riot going on down in Trumpton tonight.
