It\'s Easy To Sell Boats

So, here I am over in Japan, trying to sell my 21 foot Yamaha JOG for 300,000 yen[About 3000 bucks] Quite a few folks are interested. There's the henpecked British man, married to an awful Japanese wife, who really wants it if I will go as low as 200,000. His controlling Missis wouldn't go for my lowest of the low at 220,000.
Then there is this Kiwi bloke in NZ of all places who is willing to pay me 250,000 for the boat and then ship it to NZ.
Others are also interested.
And I thought selling boats was difficult!
I really don't want to give in to the poor henpecked hubby of the Yoko from Hell but if push comes to shove it will be a lot easier of a deal than to have to phone up about containers etc.
Oh, blah blah blah.
If you scroll down past all the blurb about my new boat, Grey Dawn, you'll get to Jack Daniels. It's in great condition and is fully-loaded. Only bummer is that one cannot run the batteries off the outboard. Bit small for long distance when the wind dies.

If I were is your situation I would sell it to the poor Englishman. I think the market is very definately a buyers market in the UK and I would guess elsewhere as more and more boats are being produced every year and hardly any at all get scrapped. More folk might be taking up boating but the majority don't want to do any work on an old boat and many are buying on the never-never and finance companies don't like old boats.
One day, when the UK inflation rate goes up again there will be loads of newish, cheap, boats for sale and those that only buy what they can afford, ie. pay cash, will have a field day. IMHO.Paul
PS. Also once shut of your old boat you can concentrate on your new one.

Quite right, Paul. The Englishman sent me an email late last night saying 'yes' to my final offer. However, it wouldn't surplise me if he gets back to me this morning with a message telling me that his wife now wants to go even lower.
I don't know why these guys marry Japanese women! They become all-controlling and the men have to work till they drop to support two little bratts that inevitably get popped. One mate of mine is a prisoner to work till at least his 80's given the condo they bought and having to put his kids through paid education.
If I were a guy, I'd only marry a Japanese woman if she'd left Japan and I met her in the UK or somewhere. The traditional ones are evil. Pure evil.

Isn't that why Japanese men spend so long at work - to avoid having to go home to the missus?

The new boat looks fantastic,what design is she?

Personally I would sell the boat to the first person to offer you nearly what you wanted.Jack Daniels will become unloved as you concentrate your efforts on the new boat.

Bedouin - Yep, quite true. That and coupled with the fact that the husband has to wait for his family to be horizontal[in bed/futon] before entering the house because he wouldn't be able to fit in it otherwise.
Graham - It's a Hereshoff design. Absolutely beautiful.
Also agree about getting rid of JD asap. It's been unloved ever since I realised that it's crap to sail in light wind!
