It\'s doing it again!

Last year we had to pospone the lift out as we were gale bound in Falmouth.

Forecast for Sunday, lift-out day? Gales!

I know that just because I'm paranoid, that doesn't mean it isn't out to get me but is this pushing coincidence too far!

And blinking inconvenient too, as I can only get up to Gweek on a Spring tide! So the mooring insurance lapses, the crane needs to be rebooked, blah blah! Helpers to ferry us from place to place (car admin) need to be re-organised, dinghy admin/storage etc etc.

And SWMBO says sweetly, "never mind dear, we could go and see some relatives now we're not doing anything else!"

We were very lucky and squeezed it in last week. But I am suprised at your insurance problem - Pantanaeous have the same cover, ashore or afloat. nowadays.

Sadly there's no Gales in Hampshire and Sussex since they closed the brewery down. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

For the last 5 years I have been down to Falmouth for the Guinness and Oyster festival on all but one occaision I have had strong to gale force winds for the return trip to Plymouth, usually from the East. I suggest that in the future you arrange you lift out so that it does not coincide with aforementioned festival and take advantage of drinking the black stuff and eating the oysters safe in the knowledge that you have allready taken care of the boats needs. See you in the beer tent.

Re: It\'s doing it again!

I had exactly the same problem 2 weeks ago... all booked at Gweek for lift out on Friday afternoon, HW approx 5.30 so ideal trip up early afternoon and all sorted in time for tea.... I think not! That was the day we had F6-9 all day and I didn't get my little 19 footer up there, I tried but thought twice once in the open Helford - Port Navas was rather sheltered! They were very good though - didn't actually expect me to come that day with the forecast anyhow. All rearranged for the next afternoon and managed to fit me in even though fully booked.

I know what you mean about the cars problem, hence why we have resorted to taking 2 - one at either end. It costs double in petrol, but saves a lot of hassle waiting around.

Were Gweek going to lift you on Sunday then?

Hope it all goes well, and I'll see you there, one day /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
