The view out my window this morning.
Looking forward to the frosty clear sunny days of Autumn.
Isn't life just great on a boat.:)

Ah, following on from chatting about Gib...

Its a bit sweaty here today. Have been waiting for a Volvo part to be delivered then had to walk a half hour each way to get it. The Eazyjet flight was arriving on my way out so had to wait another 10 minutes.

Got to the Volvo place, part arrived and discovered the word Kryptonite is the same in Spanish.

That took long enough for me to get held up by the same Eazyjet flight taking off!

Its a good job I like boats!!! Bonus is that its still tan time in the clear sunny autumn days

On balance i think Gib would suit me better than Malta.
My daughter is working as a teacher in Valencia, so I could hop on a train to visit. Looks like bit of a jouney by sea though.
I really like the idea that it's just a short walk across the border to Spain!

Another attraction, dare I say it, is Engish. I've spent a considerable lenght of time in France. Sure i can speak enough french to get by at a party for about half an hour....then i end up repeating all the well worn phrases i've learnt off by heart all over again.

I find it wears out my brain talking a foriegn language.

At the risk of selling it (ive left my signature off!!) Ive always enjoyed it here. Winter is still N Europe, wet and windy but generally short. Several storms a year.

Advantages for sailing though are the choice of destinations. I normally get round to Cadiz a few times a year, Ceuta and Smir (Morocco, French spoken) several times a month and the Costa marinas most weeks!

Algarve, less than 2 days, Canaries 5 to 6, Balearics 4 or 5, Malta 7 to 8!!

Anyway, not to everyones taste but wouldn't the world be boring if we were all the same!

That's exactly what I was thinking, a centrally located atlantic/med base. Turn right for the gorgeous beaches of the Algarve, or left for the glitter(literally) of Porto Banus and the Costa's.

Sounds like a good mix 'n match to me.

The rain in Spain maybe mainly on the plain, but the glitter in Banus is mainly on the thongs!! (alledgedly)

The show of bling is eye watering. I was there as crew on a new boat delivery to Majorca, and although it's a few years ago i can still remember a particular superyacht in Porto Banus; there were two plastic palm trees on the swim platform, and a jacuzzi with floodlights bubbling away at full chat....but unfortunately no nubile young things in it.
It drew quite a big crowd of onlookers!
