Fancy a few weeks away in June in Italy.

It's a 'special' holiday and therefore need something a bit out of the ordinary but I still want to be near something boaty / diving / nice marinas to wander around etc etc while she's on the beach.

Ideas so far have been:

--Capri - probably a bit too quiet (we're both early 30's) and F* expensive EUR20 for a pint I heard rumoured!!

--Portofino - sounds nice (hmmm Sunseeker) but what's it like...?? 'Exclusive' is nice but not super super expensive

--errr, that's it

MUST HAVE:
-Reasonable nightlife
-Reasonably expensive hotel (honeymoon!!!!)
-Not stupid prices for beer / wine
-Good beach
-Boaty stuff
-Diving would be good

What other ideas around the group??? Answers on a postcard?

Cheers
Stefan

If it's honeymoon and Portofino then you must stay at the Splendido. I dont know about bar prices but it meets all other items on your list. Mrs Stefan will be very impressed indeed

In june, I'd definitely recommend Sicily. Some hints:
this is for a more luxurious environment.
For a smaller, but fascinating town, this are great choices.
And since you mentioned diving, <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.divernet.com/travel/1002sicily.htm>Ustica</A> is absolutely worth some attention.
But I can't give you a hint on the hotel over there; the one I know is perfect for diving holidays, but you might want something better for a honeymoon.
Enjoy!
