Italian design fiasco

In my newish Fiat Doblo van there is lots of headroom and the windows are large,unfortunatly the sunshade does no swivel round to cover the side window so I drive with hand shadind my eyes,if the sun comes from ahead there is a big gap around the mirror which causes the same problem,why were these problems never discovered or is it a quesxtion of design overcommon sense.Apart from that the car seems ok!

Could it be they were designed for drivers who can't normally see over the steering wheel - hence the lack of attention with sunshades?

As it is prohibited to have permanent sun shades over windowsor even tinted glass I have decided to wear hand shaped carboard flap on side of head held on with elastic band,this can be colured to match car
