It \'twernt me.. \'twas the GPS wot did it officer!

Great story in a number of the nationals today... even made the BBC, the Sun, and Sky news, so it must be true!

Well... does this now mean that anytime we ram another boat or end up somewhere stupid with the boat we now have the prescedence set to be able to blame it on the GPS?
"I know that ship/island/dock/etc was there, but the GPS told me I supposed to go there".

Hey! Don't knock it as an excuse! It got her off! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Yeh! A regular telephone call here is:

Driver
"Hello, is that unit 9? I have a delivery for you"

One of us
"You'll be in the yard behind our building then, on the end of the arrow of your sat nav?"

Driver (with nervous chuckle)
"yeh, where are you then?

One of us
"we are in the building with the great big sign outside you just drove past!"

Unfortunately modern electronics can only be used as a replacement for some of the brains functions,a certain amount of commonsence is still required.

Anyone dull enough to drive up a train track because the Satnav said turn left shouldnt be allowed out on a bycycle unsupervised, definitely not in a car. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

As with flying , GPS can be used as an addition to navigation but not primary So GPS is great providing you use it combined with 'real' nav skills. I love the GPS/ laptop but still take paper plots!

I'm sure there was an urban myth some years ago about a German who drove his top of the range Merc or BMW into the river and his excuse was that the sat-nav hadn't told him to wait for the ferry. Hope it was true. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

At the Sorting Office - over a mile away!
