Re: isn\'t life maddening...

This morning a warning sign popped up on the computer.

It said. Windows has detected an unknown device connected to a USB port. Click on this message for trouble shooting. So I clicked and as usual, no help.

Took me about 10 minutes to realise.

It was the bloody dog connected to the lead!!! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I have chipped more dogs than I can remember, it is only a short pain for the pooch.

I have worked in dog rescue and had countless visits to the pounds to collect dogs. The first thing they do is scan the animal for a chip.

Do it, do it now!

p.s. contact the local dogs home, they will usually castrate your dog for a quarter what the vet will charge you, they do have fully qualified vets!

I think it comes in around £20.00 for your vet to chip the dog. As rescue I think we were paying around £5.00 per chip which also covered the registration. The chipper and reader were quite expensive. I still have them, I must send them back actually.

Re: isn\'t life maddening...

only reason I have against chipping is that having this done before to other dogs, it does hurt them, and that plus the usual vet activities made, well actually both my dogs frightened of going to the vets. Also found out after they had got their dog passports, & chips, that apparently you can't bring a dog back from france etc., on a private boat, only a ferry. Current vet wasn't aware of this either.

Have a very large garden, and if he starts to stray will have him chipped immediately, as its just not practical to fence the garden in. But hopefully we will train him not to go outside the garden without us being with him, have managed this previously.

Had lots of problems though with the bitch at the farm, and no I don't mean the farmers wife, being "unfixed" and on heat. If that starts up HE'S DEFINATELY VISITING THE VETS.

We had our German Shepherd chipped while she was under anaesthetic being spayed, that way she was completely unaware of it all.

You can get a collar that gives a small shock when dog get near a wire that you run around perimeter of garden.

Re: isn\'t life maddening...

lovely dog more pictures please.

you know I thought it was just me, but both my other westies didn't like black dogs, just couldn't stand em.

Plus both barked embarassingly when they saw their first black person. Now the washing machine repair man who's here (HURRAAAAAYYY!) says his black lab. is exactly the same with black people. To be politically correct, I add I would expect a dog owned by a black person would do exactly the same.

Nice pictures Deborahann - don't go confusing nice clean white doggy with washing machine will you /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Now, talking of the washing machine, what I find maddening is, when I call to report a fault, they ask me what the fault is, and I give a detailed description. No problem there.

Same chap as always turns up to fix our machine, turns up and asks "whats up with it then"? I go on to explain that I gave a detailed description to the nice lady at call centre. And his reply??

"Oh, they don't tell us anything"

Well whats the bloody point??? The poor chap has to then order parts and then go away and come back again. So that's two trips he has to make to effect, what is most often, a simple repair. Wastes my time, his time, and his company's money.
