According to the local paper the sea has breached the gap between the Isa Faro and the Isla Monteagudo which was linked by a dyke. The dyke is still there but the beach has been washed away. Its possible there is now a shallower anchourage in the shelter of the islands facing the Ria de Vigo.

WOW Andrew. You must have had quite a winter down there in Galicia. So that beach that was once rated as one of the best in Europe has now gone?

By the looks of it from the photo there is some beach left, the bit infront of the gap seems to have been whooshed away........lots of very mountainous swell this winter your well out of it......

.
This is what it looked like when we were there in Autumn 2006 - shot taken from where the lagoon flows out into the anchorage:

From the photo looks like quite extensive damage to the beach in the area of your picture.we have had lots of heavy swell this winter so It must of piled up over the lagoon and overrun the dyke and scoured a path thru the sand.

As usual with these things when its on your doorstep you dont see it with the eyes of a visitor, even so for many years its been nesessary to ask permission previously top visit by boat as the anchourage gets too full. There is also a quota for visitors visiting for the day and camping.
