I am entering my Achilles 9m in this years "Round The Island" and am having some dificulty with the information required on the entry form under ISC rating:

Under Basic Details it asks for "Empty Weight" and "Sailing Displacement", The displacement is 6000lb and the ballast is 3000lb but I'm not sure what is meant by "Empty Weight" and "Sailing Displacement"?

I am also confused by the measurement "Luff Perpendicular" (LP) requested for my Genoa

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Many Thanks,
Ali

Empty weight is the weight the manufacturer would have published in the boat specification, i.e. no fuel, no water, no safety gear, no galley equipment, no navigation equipment, no warps & fenders etc., etc.

Sailing weight is empty weight plus weight of all things needed on board to actually sail the vessel. This would include the addition of sails, safety gear, navigation equipment, additional anchoring equipment, warps, fenders, minimal galley equipment and minimum reasonable amounts of consumables required for the length of the race.

LP is the length of the perpendicular from the luff to the clew, i.e. a line from the clew which hits the luff at 90 degrees.

There may be more specific definitions as I haven't kept up to date on yacht measurement topics, I'm sure someone will put me right if there are.
