I am dying to see what it looks like cus its supposed to be all sexy like you can read it like a mag. If it is working can someone capture it and PM me what it looks like.

Ok OK sounds all like a plug, well youv'e all seen it, been on it and nicked bits off it /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif so there are no surprises I am just desperate to see it.

You are suppose to click on the text for 45 test...

Sorry, oooops!

it is an electronic reprint of the test we had printed from the mag so it should be identical but it is supposed to look better or work better online as you can turn the pages and zoom in and out, er, I think, I just pushed the button on it and said ok do it.

I think you have to allow Active X on that site . In tools manage add ons or clicking on a Buff coloured bar that appears at the top of an Explorer Page .

It does work just fine, but in a way that makes me sick.
Selling it as a sexy thing, that's the boating equivalent of selling the 45 as an oceanic passagemaker.
Compared to a straightforward PDF file, it doesn't give any added value.
The only advantage is that it shouldn't be possible to copy it - as if anyone with just a little tech expertise couldn't actually copy it...

Besides, considered from your standpoint, I guess you should be more than pleased if any reader could easily forward it as an e-mail attachment to other friends potentially interested, wouldn't you?
The "Send to a friend" feature is ridiculuos in comparison.

Ah yes that would be great if we could but unfortunately we don't own the copyright, MBY or IPC do and they have a back issue dept which I assume makes money from selling reprints of old test etc so they aren't going to let me (even if I did just keel over with what it has cost!) have it to let it be copied by all who view, I agree though dont get me wrong I d love everyone to copy and forward it on /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Just as matter of interest (you know, between you and me just /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif) how would one if one was so minded and of course I am not, copy it then? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Yeah, I really wonder how much money their back issue dept still make in these days of cheap and high quality scanners and printers! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Sounds more like an argument for asking a higher price to those who insist in having also the original files (which most likely is a pdf anyhow).
Re. "how would one so minded..." considering that obviously you're not, we shouldn't disclose that to others, should we?! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
But even if copying the flash player pages from that site and create a pdf file out of them isn't difficult at all, that's not the best way to go, because you can't improve the (poor) resolution of those images.
You probably noticed that, even zooming the pages, the resolution is just good enough to read the text on the video. They would be awful if printed.
But anyone (not you of course!) who has one copy of the magazine could easily scan the original pages and create a pdf file with the same quality of the original article.
Just probably biggish in size, 'cause all pages would be bitmap, but surely still manageable as an email attachment, considering the number of pages.

Thanks for the correction silver_boy.

That is very slick. Not hopelessly slow to load on my lame dialup connection either. So far I have not seen this Zinio feature on any sites on this side of The Pond.

I like it,
Kelly
