Hi

This 2005 Targa 34 has gone on the market here at 125k. She has <170 hours and is in good condition with 2 owners.

Is this a bargain or is the market that bad?

If its in good condition as stated I'd say a bargain and probably open to offers in the current market. I noticed the same boat (I assume the one at EBY) but others of similar age and condition at much higher price. Bargain for someone

Euro or £? (Not that there's much difference at the moment)
I suppose a boat in the Canaries will only suit a certain amount of people - ie. Transport back to the UK, or leave it there?

It was sterling but its so close I guess euros would buy it!

Shipping would cost about £6k to the UK so i suppose that takes the shine off it a bit.

Recommend full survey with sea trial by a professional marine surveyor, but if that turns out OK, then I would say this is a bargain.

Still some interest in good condition T34's from new buyers looking for a good deal and from those looking to downsize to reduce running costs!.

Dont think you can go far wrong at £125k!

A fair deal...not a great one! The T34 seems to be about £20k more than a similar Age/spec/condition Sealine S34. There are 2005 S34's around for £89k.

Given that I would say a fair deal was £110k, a great deal is £99k! I do not know whether a T34 is worth £20k more than an S34....I would put it at nearer £10k but that is the market!

Of course it is better than buying last year where a 2004 T34 would have cost about £135-145k!

I expect boats that have to be sold to continue to fall as the number of credit buyers reduce and the cash buyers keep looking for only a specific type of boat therefore not being as price sensitive!. In time I think the Second hand Market will however, stabilise as the number of new sales reduces dramatically. This should hopefully reduce the pressure on Marinas and if all those currently being built are finished may ease inflation on boats both here and the Med!

In the current Climate I would need an exceptional deal to buy a large boat....but then there are about 8 boats in the 34-40ft category that I would buy at the right price so I am more open to that exceptional deal...

Cheers

Yes, and you also have Euro buyers looking for British sellers to take advantage of the currency moves, and the GBP prices of new boats will go up due to the increased cost of euro/dollar materials, engines and ancilliaries. Both these factors may mitigate the drop on GBP priced used boats.

2/3 years ago I looked at Peters Chichester at a 1999 and a 2000 Targa 34 and they were around £110k then.

would have thought a bit cheaper due to current situation

in July before buying my 335 SC I was offered a 34 Targa for 120.000 EU with KAD300 and VAT paid and only 100 hours, the photos showed it very clean like new condition
I am not going on the differences between my choise and this
but other reasons for not completing at the time was the transport cost which would have made added 10000, and its not so much med spec, no passarelle geny etc

We sold our 2004 T34 for £140k in Dec 2007 (KAD 300's, full spec, good condition etc). Notice that EBY have now got it for sale for £130k. I would imagine it will go for £110->£120k maybe?

When we were buying £10k difference per year. So 2005 about 10k more for similar spec.

So this 2005 one is a good price but wouldn't call it a bargain - could be with a bit of negotiation I guess.

Cheers

Andrew
