I was wondering if you built a light trimaran whether you could get it to rise on foils.
And would you put one at the front and 2 at the stern on the outriggers on rudders or 2 at the front on the outriggers and one at the stern on the a single rudder?
Questions, questions
It's got to get on the foils though and that's a period when less drag is better.
The video has anwered my question about where to fit the foils though. I was hoping 2 at the front and one on the rudder would be possible.
I'm only thinking about a 10/12 foot long jobby.

This picture dates back to summer of 66(?) (Note clothing) and shows TRIM, an experimental tri with surface piercing foils.
The foils are the roughly triangular shapes to the left of my friend's head. They were hinged and could be raised out of the water when not sailing. The whole thing was built out of wood and getting Trim to fly was not feasible. They did keep the leeward float at the surface, though, and we had loads of fun going at what we thought was 'breakneck speed'. If only we'd had carbon fibre..... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Sorry about the quality; I really wish that I had a better one. This shot was taken by a daytripper who kindly sent me a copy. (I'm the skinny bloke with the dark glasses). Present glasses are now misting over..... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
