In the last few months, I've spent about 1/3 of my nights on the boat, 1/3 in me camper van (when diving) and 1/3 in our bungalow.

I sleep well on the boat after our first attempts at anchor in the spring, but I still wake up in a cold sweat regularly in the van after a few beers, thinking the anchor is dragging.

Even worse, twice, I have jumped out of bed at home, convinced the bungalow is lurching down the street, wind and tide dragging us away.....

Fear not, give it 50 years and you'll still be doing the same.

What anchor do you use on the van BTW ? I think we should be told. :D

Well, I only have a small grapnel, plus 5m of 10mm chain, although it is stainless.

The bungalow, however.........

Not joking, after getting van stuck on the beach i have fitted 2 ton winch and anchor.

Many years ago we'd been diving out of Porthclais. We were defizzing in the car park enjoying an ice cream and this chap came walking up and asked us to help him - his car was stuck in the sand.

It was a long walk, the tide was right out, so we chatted with him as we walked down through the harbour - he asked us where we'd been diving and so on.

When we got outside the harbour wall, his car was already full of water - up to the tops of the tyres. We did, very luckily in my opinion, manage to get it out.

I never understood why he seemed so laid back and seemingly lacking in urgency. The water must have been around his car when he left it.

He obviously had an anchor alarm on his tom tom so didnt need to worry :-)
