Is this an Interesting Question? I think so personally...

I was just sitting here talking to some of my friends and we were talking about friends that we'd had over the years and that had come and gone wherever and whenever, and it got me thinking...

Interesting for people that are relatively new to this forum and are in awe at the forum members with thousands of posts under their belt:

Since whenever this forum started, what forumites have remained in your memory, past or present, and are famous in some way for the sort of things they posted, way they behaved etc? Why did they leave? Why are they still here? Things like that...

Thought it would be quite interesting to hear /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Chris

P.S This is over all the forums /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Probably better suited in the Lounge but oh well /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I've been in contact with probably thousands of forumites, I've met about 350. Nothing about meeting in them in real life has really changed my opinion. Most are much more mild in the flesh, but that is forums.
Was disappointed when Byron left, but he's back now.

Why was he so legendary? lol and you havent done so badly yourself /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif 17,615 posts! in just over 4 years... I remember in my first ever post which seems like years ago (probably was, not 06/06/2006 as it says in my profile) I was directed to you for an answer to my problem before I even had a chance to find out what other people had to say

Chris

I'm relatively new to the forums , but have one or two posts under my belt more than I'd want , but then on here I can be quite a gobby git , which makes up for real life where I'm a mild mannered and spoken , quiet type

Between the early meets, Wareham etc, Byron Party, Mercury meets, individual meets and on sea meets, Cherbourg, Ascot, Wokingham, Teddington meets, birthday parties, wedding anniversaries, drinks at pubs, ybw stuff doing marketing, boatshow meets(london and southampton),on shore Barbeques, people you meet on the water, via business, taking peeps boats home, giving on water advice, etc etc. Yes, over the years, they all add up.

I'm not sure how many now, as I've given up counting. I can remember a thread on how many people you've met off the forum many years ago. It was a lot lower? Tho you used to do the same taking peeps on delivery trips etc so must have met quite a few, as well as London meets etc

Oh, there are hundreds of forumites I want to meet, and tho have had seconds of chatting too, havent' had the opportunity of a good chat yet. We have some good local meets, though room for many more where anyone can turn up, from what ever distance

Thats essentially why a forum exists, surely?

So people can put across their opinions, however ridiculous or whatnot and know that no-one will be knocking on their door to start a fight /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Although I was reading an article in the papers about that very thing happening the other day, some pillock put all their details on their profile and someone who had a disagreement with that person went to their house and started to beat them up or something along those lines...

Chris

that's one of the reasons I ask new users not to put phone numbers on posts , B got me started on it
But sometimes the posts go OTT and everyone takes things too seriously

Another illusion shattered... I, however, am EXACTLY as I write - been told so. By a forumite. Who began to regret extending the hand of friendship on a recent trip. Till I calmed down... Hope he's reading this - I did tell him I'm quite normal. Really. Truly. Love to A&L - see soon.

I hope you are exactly as you write....Please do not shatter any illusions....
