At first I thought this boat a great buy at just a tad under £90k. But..it is green and it is an old boat design. Anyone know if the Targa 39 was introduced in 1993? HERE it is!

Having now had a look around and compared similar Cranchis, sunseekers etc it seems to be about £15k over priced (IMHO). So are older fairlines worth more...even in a tasty shade of green! Given the mooring costs and fuel consumption I would prefer a 2002 S34!

Also saw a V39 a year older for £99k HERE again . I know the V39/40/42 are great boats but surely a 1995 V series is not worth a £100k at the moment?

I can't afford either...just window shopping!

Cheers

I didnt think that 90K was bad value, last year same boat was advertised for 99K so down 10, trouble is that nasty green colour. Expect you would get 5-7K off these prices or maybe more.. But decent boat for the money nice inside. Would have gone for one if I could have get the price down but no one wanted to oblige at the time !

Fairline 38 Targa was launched in 1993, the 39 Targa is an improvement and was presented in mid 1995 season, main difference are glossier cherry interior, and extended bathing platform,
last year I sold a chap a V39 from 1996 with 400 hours at 110 EUROS with that years rate it would be about 80k, and she in lovely condition and the much desired blue, hydraulic passrelle, and generator where among the extras on this boat
I would give him 70k and see what he tells me, but as a friend I also say that if you dont like the green forfet it all togather

If you can live with the colour I think its a snip. Looks a nice clean boat and probably another 5 to 10K to come off after survey, initial offer etc.

Agreed.... the colour thing can be dealt with. If she is genuine, FSH etc and in good cond and the right price... these should be more important than cosmetics than can be corrected easily later. Just my twopenneth...!

I reckon it could cost a bit more than that Jez, cos there is green piping in the white cushions plus some green trim in the cockpit. Then there's the insides. I spose it depends how far one wants to go. Maybe new canopy plus awlgrip initially, at the prices you say, then upholstery/trim later.

Saw that boat in the shed today as it happens got the full story from Nick.

Only thing is, its not new gelcoat, the colour comes from Awlgrip Hard and is paint. Bloody nice job though, probably better than gel tbh.

AwlGrip or similar pains (west system etc etc) is always better then Gel altough many people beleive its the other way:
Gel is used for the following:
1) less expensive to put as it comes out straight from the mould rightly finished
2) mistakes will show less with gel and with a bit of compound and polish it is easy to cover up if there is any
3) obviously you save the material, as with GRP const the outershell is in 90% cases Gelcoat and some newer builds Epoxy is being used, although this is rare cause of the double price

I know this thread is a month old but I just saw this blue hulled TARGA 37 and I think I'm in love. 1999 with KAD44s, heating, radar, tender etc.
If I could be bothered to sell mine I think I'd take a look.
Anyone want a petrol SeaRay 260? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
