Any time is a good time to buy a new boat if you see what you like at the right price!
By the way, I like your moose but you need to remove one of the 'http://' bits from the image address if you want everyone to see it.

it's okish IMHO, but no amazing bargains. Sept -dec is prime time for good 2nd-hand boats to be solde. Junk stays till spring. With low interest rates, nobody too desperate, and all hanging in for their price. I tried to book at short notice at The Ivy, and they laughed at me. What a relief - no recession for the moment. But bad news if you wanted a megacheap boat.

IMHO I would think that now is a good time to buy as we are approx half way bewteen the Southampton and London Boat Shows and we are aobout to go into winter. It may be aprticularly so if you want to buy a boat (at a low ish price) and do it up as a winter project.

looking at the world economy (and after talking to several boaty dealers)
things are not selling terribly well towards the end of the summer (and this with
very cheap money ) and by next May I reckon prices are going to be rock bottom
on he international boat market. just call me an old pessimist ......

Well.... even the governor of the b of E now says there is a recession coming..
Do you remember how much boats cost in the last recession. just wait
Incidentally I was seriously looking at buying at the Southampton boat show
and was offered the boat being shown at the show because they had not managed
to sell it (and this boat had appeared in a lot of magazines) and they were worried because
they had another one coming in six weeks. I thought -make them an offer ?-But no i will
make them an offer in six months time.

my lady wife and I , (she has degrees in economic history and things) decided about
one year ago that there would propobally be a depression hitting about the beginning of next
year ,I don't think we were the only ones to come to that conclusion....(nothing to do with sept11)
which is why we decided on a bigger boat, (i think the best place to be in a depression is in the
Med on a boat you 100 per cent own .) no point in scrabbling about for lowsy jobs on low pay.
i think we are about on target at the moment , we reckon on two years.
How to take an optomistic view of a world decline.just takes planning .

Might be (hows that for on the fence) - I've just bought a cheap petrol boat - a good 20% below what it was advertised for and that was already at a competative price.
I think though you will find that sellers won't sell if the price is too low. Having said that some people will sell at any price to realise some value to shore up other weaker parts of their portfolio. And I'd say some builders might start to push stock through just to keep the work going. But the overall park of buyers and sellers is quite small so don't expect great things to happen.
Look for more value add stuff (like KevB got) rather than bigger discounts. E.g upgrade of electronics, heater, dinghy packmarina berth etc.. or maybe fuel vouchers.

Never ever buy a boat until the temperature has been below -10 for at least 2/3 weeks.there is a layer of melting snow and most important of all the bill has come in from the poncy marina the boat has been moored in all last summer.Then and only then bid them in the b..............x.
