Looking to put a colour chartplotter on my flybridge. Have sourced a new Raymarine RL70CRC (radar/chartplotter) at £749. Last one cost me over £2k. Obviously cheap due to being superseded by other models. Had the "70" series on my last boat and liked it very much......ease of use etc, etc. Any opinions on fitting this model or should I purchase latest technology ???.

Having just done the same with hsb2 connection, I can only agree it is a good deal. The only problem is that C-Map are causing disarray with the introdiction of C-Map Max charts. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Don't know. Hope they will work and just ignore the new features such as tidal current arrows which they weren't designed for. Suggest you ask Raymarine.

I bought the Chart plotter for £749 and the Raystar 120GPS for £185. The chap had advertised 10 for sale on e-bay and as of yesterday he had just 2 left. He is a well known Marine Electronics dealer based in London. So that I don't get banned from the forum I won't print his name but to point you in the right direction think of a tall prickly plant often seen in Western (cowboy type) movies !!!!!!!!. Thats him!!

He offered me a 2kw Raymarine scanner at £675

Good Luck

Re: Is this too good to be true?

Wd be interested to hear how he replies to you

Scam alert

Kev this sounds like a fraud. I recognised the address instantly - it's the HQ of tthe ivy league City law firm Linklaters, which I visit zillions of time. I just called someone there and Mr Ramus is not listed in their personnel data base as a current or past employee

Also he wants money by W Union.

Sounds a scam, and also the goods are too cheap to be believable. Leave well alone imho

A really cool reply would be "I'm a partner in Linklaters, can you bring it to my office on the 6th floor and I'll pay you cash" /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Edward,

Not a problem, I can understand you are busy. Although as I am a parnter in Linklaters, you could arrange to bring it to my office on the 6th floor and I'll pay you cash.

If this is not acceptable, thank you for your time. I shall look elswhere for the equipment

Thanks
Kevin.

Re: Definite Scam

Tee hee. BTW a scuttbutter reported about a month ago that he had sent money for a cheap plotter and it never arrived. He was scammed. Seller was new ebay registrant and payment was W Union. So these scams do happen

I think it's criminal to impersonate a solicitor, by the way. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It was only an implied impersonation - he didn't actually say he was a partner of a firm of solicitors ... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
