Is this a chandlery? It says it is!

Fair doo's I have been after some 'paint-on Flame retardant stuff' for ages, seems like a good price on quick examination.

Bookmarked for later, thank you for the link.

(bet you didn't expect that eh?)

The prime business is theatrical supplies - stage gear, lifting gear and scenery etc . BUT the owner is a classic yacht owner, a keen sailor and a thoroughly nice guy who offers stacks of marine supplies from the same premises. I found his place as a reliable London source of Epifanes varnish, brushes etc plus all sorts of marine gear at very reasonable prices. I visited the premises in South London ( not one of the Plastic packet walk in chandleries but a Store/workshop establishment with guys doing real work) and had a conducted tour by the man himself. I will be back to him shortly for more maintenance gear. I have no connection with the business - just a very satisfied customer. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

There's all sorts of stuff in there. A non-injurious champagne bottle to launch your boat. Some of the formable scenery building materials could help me record the shape I have to make something for the boat. One-wrap double sided velcro must have a boat related use etc...

Looks like a seriously useful site! But I'm more than ever glad that I don't have to varnish a whole hull.

If it is the sort I use with hooks on one side and loop on back it is very useful.

I use it for work, for cable coils, looped round at one end of the cable and stitched or stapled with enough "tongue" to go round the cable when it is coiled.

Far better than PVC tape, permanent and does not leave sticky residue to attract dirt, can be slid up the cable out sight or used to tie the end of the cable round something.

I also use it for permanent fixing cables by fixing a length of if to a surface and using that for holding cables. Very useful when doing panel wiring when you always find one more cable to run through.

What sort of flame retardant paint are you after? I have loads left over.

[/ QUOTE ]I'm not after 'paint', I am after the clear stuff to paint some old foam and materials that I don't think are pre-treated from the factory, such as curtains and the like.

Good price for those foam Jenny brushes - 1" @ 37p.

I bought several of the large boxes of different sized Jenny brushes and as you say they are cheap and are the real thing so they last much longer than the cheap ones as well.

They also sell the Jenny rollers which I've used for both epoxy and varnish.

Met this guy at the Beale Park boat show last year ... he really couldn't have been more helpful ... and he sails a Vertue, which makes him a very sensible and knowledgable chap into the bargain! Good stuff, good prices and quick with it ... and can answer any queries. I'm getting the boat ashore for a few weeks next month for a refresh and will be getting everything from Flints.
(no connection - just impressed)
