Just checked BBC atlantic charts and it shows a nice big high from north sea end pushing the low down, is this what we have been waiting for? or am i misreading it all?
Stu
High pressure air is air that is sinking. If there's an arctic high pressure area coming down from the Arctic in July, it probably indicates another ice age.
Decent summer weather is usually associated with high pressure coming up from the Azores.
The long range forecast from ECMWF also look better than they have for weeks. Ever the optimist!!! . As ever with UK weather, hope for the best but plan for the worst!!
Can strongly empathise with those stuck in Spain, we have been in Camaret Sur Mer for 5 days waiting for a decent forecast to cross the other way, down towards La Coruna. I cannot see us leaving here before Saturday to head across.
Getting used to Camaret, but would love to get away now.
..you must have noticed how the weather now changes with the month. If what you say is still current thinking, we're in for a cold snap before the below occurs.
Just checked Grib and they say the same thing. The Atlantic low will track across Northern Scotland and associate with two developing lows to form a complex low which will bring Very Strong winds all down the east coast before moving away into Scandinavia and Russia, allowing the Azores high to extend putting a col across our home waters by Tuesday. Then it will be back to summer for Aug. 1st.
Wind Guru is giving fairly good winds around A Coruna for the next few days.
Or turn round & come round to South Of France for a few weeks then go up thru the canals........I'll stump for the beer!!!
