Is there a handbook / manual like a car?

I have just acquired a used Fairline P50 and spent my first night aboard last night

I have opened the big cases full of manuals and there are dozens of random pump installation leaflets and engine manuals, toilet fittings etc.

What I can't find is a main handbook for the boat, should this exist?

I am hoping it will explain things like

The steering system
The electrics which switches do what
The plumbing systems I.e how to hold grey water and how to pump.

Am I right in thinking this manual should exist?

Yep, there should be one; on my Fairline Targa 40 it is an a4-sized ring binder, which was in one of the blue document cases.

Yes i had one same as jimmy on my p40 it was a usefull bit of kit

Yes. Requirement since 1998 to provide such a handbook. Owner should have passed it on to you. Fairline will probably be able to provide a copy.
