Is there a case for an NB (non-boaty) forum on this site?

I don't care either way - just interested in the views of others!!!

It's not the height of the waves that bothers me. it's the depth of the troughs*!?

Whilst I would like to see a Fray Bentos free zone devoid of silly hats and foreign languages, Scuttlebutt is the yacht club bar, and like in most of these there is boat chat and general crap chat, and more of the latter in the silly season just starting.

The art I guess is to ignore conversations of no interest and join in only those that are, if none start your own.

Don't you like music?

The more time I spend on the forums, the more I enjoy the more esoteric discussions. THE PBO forum seems to stay pretty boaty, but just boaty stuff doesn't provide quite as much entertainment, IMO. PBO is the technical forum, S Butt is much more opinionated thanks to some colourful old rogues, God bless 'em.

That will teach me, I did peep but not at that bit. However a Jeanneau owner who likes proper music must be a good chap. I suppose it would be too much to ask if you like Celine Dion as well?

Celine Dion

Celine Dion doesn't do anything for me - I guess it was those TV shots in her early days with her teeth sticking out! Much prefer Maggie Bell, Janis Joplin, and some of the folky stuff - Steeleye Span (and similar) - and I like my Jeanneau

I was many miles away from the pie episode but I enjoyed reading it. It is quite pleasent to see there are still enough "free thinking spirits" around - or was that perhaps too much free spirit !!!!

Now back home with my mistress and SWMBO of course !!!

Re: No.

No, not imho. The jokes lying around the place make it less blimmin serious and set the tone as a place where predominantly boaty stuff, tho outright techy stuff seem to go on the PBO forum.

the NB flagging makes it as if they were on another forum anyway.

Lots of posts are a bit marginal as to whether they are boaty or not, so cd be a load of admin involved.

SB is almost there already

4 out of the highest 6 are Nb but I guess that is what prompted your post

Leave it as it is I say - very enjoyable to read and even enjoyable to post occasionally in my opinion

That's not exactly the point of 'Website News and feedback forum'

Use the back button (the green one at the top in IE - it takes you to the previous page) and it says "Off topic discussions and chat".
