i have been sorting out some old paperwork and shredding all the old stuff.
i have come across a large quantity of photos of myself and mrs s on boats from 1990 onwards

i have noticed the camera has been adding weight to me and now picks up wrinkles previuosly invisible. what's more my eyes are more often than not red not green

the camera is an old olympus but i am loath to ditch it

It is a well know fact that old camera lenses develope distortions which create a sort of fisheye effect which can make the subjects appear large in the equatorial dimension. Such lenses also develope small linear imperfections which cause lines of zero light which can be interpreted as dark creases. I have also discovered a striking effect whereby dark brown colours are translated as pale pink (in winter cold) or bright red (summer heat) at the top end of tall objects.

The answer is to buy a digital camera and a copy of Photoshop 7 with which normal shapes and colours can be restored - sorry, preserved

Will this also work with clothes? I have found that they become distorted over the years, mainly shrinkage.

Leather belts

also have poor durability in that they tend to diminish in length gradually over the years.

Those left for a year or two without being used often become useless at all and entirely unfit for their purpose.

Some foul weather gear also exhibits the phenomenon in my experience.
