I'm sure it's been voiced before but I need a magic wand!

How oh how can I get a berth in southern France? Have been on the "list" now for a year, not heard anything yet. The captainerie is off for the winter so am hanging in there waiting. Trying to get into the, um, not so prettty Cap d'Agde. At this stage will accept anything if it turns up. It's about a 5 year waiiting list for Marseillan and probably a bit more for Meze.

Anyone know of a way to get bumped up the list? Would love to get back into the water for the summer.

I would expect that one way would be to buy a boat that is already in the marina on the understanding that the boat retains that berth

Already have the boat, which is out on the hard until a berth comes up. Mmm which reminds me I should be down there now doing the next refit before summer!

But thanks for the info. Maybe if I win the lottery I'll buy another!

A friend just turned up at Fos sur Mer, where he could have a berth for a few days, he is still there 5 months later.
If you are not there in person you will never go uo the list.
Have you looked at Spain.

I have heard that if you go there in person (cheapo flights this time of year), speak to other berth holders, check out the YC noticeboard and even speak to the fishermen you can often pick up a privately owned berth for reasonable money. I did it myself some years back but that was before it was so full! At least you can hire a car then and visit all the marinas along that stretch.

Yes, we are here in person, and live not too far away. Maybe we'll have to keep badgering them. Maybe they'll get so sick of our faces they'll give in! Hard work is the only way I suppose!
