When the sun is shining (a rare occurrence, I know) I'm not so keen on this online sailing lark so enter races but don't pay as much attention as I should. Come winter I'll probably feel different. Is it just me?

Not sure...I'm still new to it so I find it interesting. I just wish I'd been interested enough to stay up a bit later a couple of nights ago to spot the wind change. I was lying in 11th place at one point...made the course change that I thought would see me through the night and went to bed. When I woke up the next morning I was halfway down the field with no possible chance of making it up again :(

Never mind...Fastnet coming up. Surely things can only get better ;)

Nope. Its not just you.

I start races with the best intentions of staying focused then IRL sailing comes along and bang, 200 places backwards.

From near the back of the fleet there is little motivation to get up at say 2am to change course and check weather.

Like TrevB says, Fastnet at the weekend, If its raining we might stand a chance, otherwise I'm off sailing.

I suppose the fact that i have not raced since... well i cant remember when. I think it was just before the boat went back in the water. Too much maintenance not enough time to race. Well i am giving it a shot again. Fastnet here we come!!!

Folks, I haven't tried Sailing Online before but I'll have a go and try to join you in the Fastnet as a learning exercise.

Cheers

I don't know, I go off for a walk, get back after three hours and I'm in the top 10 - well just in at 9th.

Think I'll go to sleep tonight and win :D

Wont be long before I'm at the back again though, due to some daft mistake

Where did you go this morning? You set a course for the finish but managed to miss the finish line and ended up aground...I was waiting for you to gybe at the last minute and cross the line!

I had to rush out as SWMBO had a last min job interview (very good job - I can retire if she gets it), the last two coarse corrections were a guess just before shooting out the door, gutted i missed the line by only a few feet.

It went wrong the other night when I fell asleep at the helm :o 9th place to 209th in three hours.

I'm set for tonight though, do you feel lucky.....:D
