I know that right now everyone you speak to has endured more than a 'Gut Full' of this poxy weather........BUT........at risk of sounding like the most miserable [--word removed--] ever..........I am seriously p1223d off with monitoring bloody weather forecasts all week, planning my few spare hours of potential fun.........just to have it dashed by A:- The weather......and B:- the lying bstards that waste thier bloody lives away, convincing the the world that they actually have a poxy clue about forecasting it!!!

How much are these prats paid to talk crap all the time.......

Real world scenario...........Hello, Im Dr Barrington Smythe, PHD in bolloxology from Bolloxville in Derbyshire........

I and all my silly mates are paid utterly stupid sums of money by all the worlds governments to convince you the stupid public that we have a product that you all want........That doesnt work..........ever...........its called a weather forcast.

We wait till the 11 th hour then balls up any plans you may have made, by finally telling the truth, namely what we see out of our bloody OFFICE WINDOWS!!

Sorry for ranting guys and girls...........but I have seriousy had a gut full of this poxy weather!

Anyone want a Targa 37! Fully Sorted and ready for the Med, where it really should be! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

You don't need the sun to enjoy the boat, you just think you do.

Isn't it just about getting away from it all? At least because so many people only use their boats in 20 degrees plus the marinas and anchorages will be nice and clear for you. Go on, stick the eberspacher on and have some fun, and sod the rain.

Quite Right Jez.

Whilst the sea states have been too poor to venture far from the Marina wihout taking life and limb into serious danger - there is nothing stopping anyone fro enjoying their boat - All of my cruise plans this year have been dashed so far - with only one actually being taken and then that turned into a night mare as suddenly in the sapce of a day the projected 2/3 turned into a 5/6 and we had to get back cos of work - so a rough ride was had by all aboura - since then I have been down the boat on a couple of weekends just spending a relaxing couple of days on the boat away from it all staying in the Marina .... not as good as getting where I wanted to go - but

a) cheaper on fuel :)
b) relaxing
c) just a small trip up river to take her out for a short run ...

I am hoping for a better Summer in the winter - but hey - I just think of all that money I have saved by not spending £180 on fuel each weekend .... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Roll on Summer /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Jez, my man, I know what you mean............You just cant beat sitting under a flippin leaking canopy, obviously made by people who also thrive on telling lies.........'Honestly Our Canopies Are Waterproof', with heating on, a cloth constantly wiping the water off your seat...............
Oh I give up!!!

My poxy 20 quid fishing brolly keeps me drier than a baot canopy!

A flybridge boat would seriously have been a better buy........Damn that Easter Weekend weather!

Suprised your canopy leaks. The 6 year old one on Whitelighter was still dry apart from one bit ot track that leaked before I fixed it with sikaflex. Is it the original Fairline canopy or a new one?

I don't want to be rude, but are you sure you put it up correctly? With the rear swept arch on the Targa, the metal frame work can move and put the shape out. I had a brand new Bayliner with a swept back arch with covers that used to leak water everywhere - until the dealer aligned them properly and showed me how I should have been putting them up.

Alright Jez.............come and have a beer with me this weekend, you can hold the flippin ecloth, I would guess its the original cover, it pours in water around the top corners of the windscreen, down the side window joins where you clip the cover to it, basically I think it needs re-proofing............BUT when????? Has it been dry enough?????

Agree with you. The Met Office have'nt got a clue. Back in April, they were forecasting a 'warmer and drier than average' summer. I'm sure that that particular statement will gain almost much notoriety as Michael Fish's hurricane statement. They can't even forecast accurately one week ahead. We have a garden party tomorrow and I've been watching the weather forecast for tomorrow since the beginning of this week and it has changed every day from dry to wet, from sunny to cloudy and max temp from 15degC to 22degC. What's worse is that the Met Office have the gall to charge through services like Marinecall for their wildly inaccurate forecasts
They will say that the UK weather is difficult to forecast because of it's unpredictably. Well, I say, if thats the case, why bother to have a Met Office. Get rid of it and save the taxpayer a few million squids

My point entirely!

If you had a crap product, one that was purely based on bolloxology how long would you last????

I blame it all on Gordon Flippin Brown

I am thinking about starting my own weather site - it sounds quite easy really I might design or just "borrow" a few icons - like SUN, RAIN CLOUD etc and then write the words - The Forecast for this week is RAIN and leaving it at that all year with no updates ness !!!! I could not be further out than the Met Office and my site would be free /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Quite right Jez. This was my intended plan of action yesterday. Me the boy, fishing rods and our bikes as a backup plan...to spend the night on board and have "quality time" (think that's how SWMBO put it!!)

Went down to the marina and found it like a ghost town, well apart from the usual workies and valeters. Did a few odd jobs, got a zip replaced on my canopy ( yes the guys at Saturn Sails were SO busy they did it there and then for me...thats how quiet thing are up here, never heard of in July!!).

Decided to turn boat around and move it to a more sheltered berth only to be blown backwards and almost into an F37 Sealine and a rib. In my defence I was attempting to turn the thing on a sixpence against wind and tide...well that's my story /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif. Anyway manage to get round without any damage and berthed up. By this time the weather didn't look too grand so we decided to abandon ship, get our bikes and ride into town for lunch. Great idea!!

On the way back from lunch son, who is 6, decides to ride bike up a skateboard ramp.....flies off..lands on the hard smack bang on the chin!! Oooeeer thats got to hurt says I. After much tears and the wiping of blood and snot it was back to the boat for a lie down and some quiet time.

Eventually chucked it at 7pm.....howling wind, horizontal rain and by now both me and the lad were feeling quite sea sick. Boating in the marina...never again....If I can't go out to sea in future I won't be staying. Boats don't make good caravans (well mine doesn't at any rate!!) At least I can say I tried it though!! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I'm going to try again tomorrow!!!

And not only is it a crap product but we're being charged twice for the product. We pay through general taxation for the Met Office and then they charge us again through services like Marinecall. So we pay twice and get rubbish. If the Met Office was a private company it would have been hounded out of business years ago

I think I should re-title this thread!!!

To all young men and women, not tucked up with kids and mortgages and all the boring crap in life that shapes you and manipulates you into a grumpy old 41 year old..............

Get the hell out of here!
Go somewhere warm, where a smile makes your day, not a fat pay check to fund your 'Must Have' life style!

More importantly where you dont rely on a berk with a poofy voice on the BBC telling you utter tosh about the flippin weather, and somewhere that your not greenhouse taxed to death!

God I am grumpy today
